Introduced in 2002, the Bavaria 38 was designed for Bavaria by J & J Design as an update to their earlier Bavaria 37. She is a modern high-volume cruising yacht built with two optional cabin layouts (two-cabin or three-cabin), two keel options (standard or deep fin) and either in-mast furling or slab reefing mainsails.
'Yachting Monthly' reviewed the design in a boat test in the Dec 2002 issue, reporting that she was "light on the helm and rewarding to sail". Many of these yachts found their way into charter fleets, or were used by sailing schools, hence there can be a fairly wide variation in prices and condition.

Broker's Comments

These boat details are subject to contract.
A modern family yacht from Bavaria, the Bavaria 38 is actually just over 40 feet in length. These yachts had options of two-cabin (owners) or three-cabin (charter) versions, and deep or shallow fin keels. At 40 feet in length, you can have full headroom below whilst maintaining a reasonably low deck profile. The hull is laid up in a mix of chopped strand mat and woven rovings, with PUR-foam cores above the waterline and in the deck moulding. The bow sections have kevlar reinforcement laid into the GRP
