Broker's Comments

Bavaria Yacht - what does the name suggest to you? Great value for money and a well engineered design or a flimsy lightweight that you wouldn't take around Cape Horn?
Both views are valid as these are a production yacht built to a price that ordinary mortals can afford. When I stepped on deck to photograph her I was immediately impressed by the ease of movement around her; the well thought out cockpit arrangement and generous stowage including a forward lazarette for the dinghy, just where you need it. The quality of the deck hardware was also a pleasant surprise and I believe this owes something to the age of this yacht. Pre 2007 Bavaria Yachts were wholly German owned but in June of that year they were acquired by a US equity company and things seemed to change; sadly not for the better.
Latterly built Bavaria's have suffered in this material quality and stanchion height is only one example where costs have been trimmed in later years. Similarly the interior of 'our Bavaria' boasts real wood as opposed to later synthetic and skimpy alternatives. Below decks her furnishings and varnish work might benefit from a spruce up, and a new cooker would smarten her considerably. You would then have a smart and spacious cruising yacht in which to holiday cruise with friends and family both locally and further afield and a yacht in which to take some justifiable pride.
Although I have no personal experience of the marque I am informed that Bavaria's do actually sail well in the sort of conditions that most of us would want to sail; and I personally have no intention of 'rounding the Horn' in any yacht!
