For instance the precise German engineering and production methods allow building a strong rigid hull without unneeded extra weight. Some of the weight saved is then but back into her deep fin keel. This gives her a high ballast to weight ratio for safe offshore work but also allows good light air performance.
This Bavaria 49, with its high aspect ratio Seldon rig and long waterline will easily sail at half the apparent wind speed, making her a swift passage maker and a fun and responsive day-sailer as well!
This particular Bavaria 49 was purchased by a knowledgeable Norwegian family. After careful preparation and updating with the latest electronics and safety gear she proved herself with a swift and uneventful Atlantic crossing to the Caribbean in 2009. After fulfilling that owner's dream to cross the Atlantic she was sold to her present owner who wanted a safe and enjoyable yacht to share with his wife and three children and they spent a year sailing together in the Caribbean. When it was time to return home to Seattle they had the boat trucked here to continue the adventure. Work and school obligations have changed the plan and she is reluctantly for sale.
Continuously updated (new salon upholstery most recently), she is ready to leave immediately and carry another family off to realize their dream of sailing away on a great adventure. Load the provisions and top off the tanks and you could be underway.
Don't miss this opportunity to get a well-equipped, ready-to-go late-model world cruiser at a remarkable price.
