Broker's Comments

Originally built by Marine Construction Ltd (Marcon) the moulds eventually passed to Brue Yachts of Somerset which built this example in 1989. According to the Sabre Owners' Association Brue still hold the moulds and the last Sabre to be built was launched in 1999!
So, after that potted history, what do we have? A much loved yacht, sadly with owner now deceased. A solid more or less go anywhere cruising yacht, examples of which have crossed oceans, but ideal for the drying harbours of West Wales and the Bristol Channel. Comfortable (a relative term!) accommodation for six adults but more comfortable for four or even better two plus two children. She is a bilge keeler, so will take the ground and swing to a cheap drying mooring. Her twenty HP Yanmar is more than enough to power her to windward or for when the wind drops to zero, otherwise the Sabre has a good reputation as a competent sail boat. She has a warm and homely interior complete with full cooker (gimbals), fridge and sink and a VHF, compass and depth sounder. I would probably take along a handheld gps if I was going out of sight of land. A little dated in the upholstery department perhaps but on balance a yacht which 'scrubs up well' and will provide someone, a young family perhaps, with yonks of cruising pleasure!
