Broker's Comments
The Contessa 34 was designed as an Offshore One Design by Doug Petersen. I have sailed this boat and I think that she is one of the best of her generation. Even today her windward performance is impressive, especially in a blow.
This boat was initially owned by the owners of Brookes and Gatehouse and she had many racing successes.
Contessa's have a good reputation for being well made and designed.
This one has been well cared for and carefully refurbished by her owner. The keel has been removed, keel bolts inspected, resealed and rebedded. The hull has been taken back and antifouled, keel taken back and painted. She has had new deck paint plus a completely new electrical system and over hauled engine. Her mast was replaced in 1996 and the rigging replaced in 2007.
The interior is comfortable and she has a comprehensive sail wardrobe. She fulfils the gap of a comfortable cruiser with racing capabilities, often out performing many modern yachts.
Realistically priced, therefore well worth viewing.
