Broker's Comments
Designed by Dick Zaal and built in Holland, the Contest quickly earned a reputation as a sturdy, well built yacht, with excellent sea keeping qualities. The overwhelming feeling when climbing onboard is of solidity and space. A good-sized cockpit, with lots of nice wood and everything in the right place, excellent access forward via the side decks. Inside great headroom and plenty of space, a large saloon, with lots seating and an enormous table, a galley which you can actually cook in and a nav station you can actually plot in and lots of nice wood.
She’s a sociable boat and I can imagine her being sailed by an adventurous family, looking to do some longer distance passages, but equally she would provide a lot of fun, in coastal/estuary cruising. Inevitably, for a boat of her age there is work to be done, the decks need attention and the paint on the topsides is peeling, but don’t let this put you off viewing - as with attention she could be returned to her former glory.
