Volvo Penta 75 D2 with turbocharger and 150S sail drive gearbox working a four x eight inch blade Volvo folding propeller with an Ambassador rope cutter. She will cruise comfortably at 1800 to 2000 rpm giving six or seven knots. The sail drive gaiter was renewed in May 2016. Current engine hours 1595 and the engine and gearbox have just had a professional service/overhaul as of 12th Feb 2017.
Access to the engine is good; lifting the hydraulic assisted companionway ladder exposes the front and top while hatches in both quarter cabins cover the sides and rear where there is a large lit space giving access to the back of the engine, the sail drive gearbox, fuel filters and the battery charger. It should be straightforward to mount a generator here. The 250 litre fuel tank and cut off lever are under the starboard quarter cabin berth.

Four 140/800 service batteries and the isolated engine battery are secured below the cabin sole by the companionway with easy access and a battery coupler. Shore power socket in cockpit Walk-on solar panel on coachroof. 60 ah battery charger with battery condition monitor in engine bay LED navigation, anchor and tri-colour navigation lights on mast. A most comfortable, spacious three cabin and saloon layout. Plenty of light with Moabi wood flooring and hull liner. The beige fabric upholstery has removable covers on the U shaped port banquette and central bench around a fixed 1.2m x 0.9m dining table. There is a further full length banquette to starboard. The long windows and abundant hatches give a deck saloon effect with good visibility of the topsides and sails. There are well placed grab rails and pillars and capacious stowage space. Attractive chrome halogen bulkhead and ceiling lighting. A drinks cabinet, lit and mirror lined, behind the starboard banquette.
Two big double quarter cabins each with shower and head. A spacious owner’s cabin forward with a large shower and heads compartment. Ample hanging and stowage space throughout. The starboard quarter cabin heads are roomy with doors to the saloon and into the cabin also a 45 litre waste tank and controls behind the bulkhead. All hatches have retractable blinds and insect screens. Windows have concertina blinds. Eberspracher D5 heating/ air blower throughout. Emergency torch and 1 kg extinguisher per cabin. 2 kg extinguisher by chart table for the engine.
An L shaped galley with a Bretagne Evolution three burner / oven / grill calor stove. Plenty of workspace. A 75 litre cool box,a 100 litre top opening refrigerator and a 130 litre front loading fridge with ice box which opens aft. 590 litre fresh water supply split between a tank under the port quarter cabin and another in the forward owner’s cabin. Stand-by foot pump and seawater switch-over at the double sink. 60 litres of hot water heater capacity. Water tank controls, fresh water pump and calorifier below the port banquette
The navigation position faces to starboard with good working space and stowage and a comfortable swivelling seat. Electrical systems and heating control panel, vhf radio, cd/radio with 2 speakers, water, fuel and electrical gauges, 12v and 220v sockets, Navtex and E 80 plotter repeater screen with control pad. Automatic bilge pump switch, gas alarm.

This fantastic Dufour Grand large is a boat we know well, having sailed my own boat past her many times on my way to my own berth. To say I have always looked 'longingly' is an understatement. She is one of those boats that has everything in her favour. One owner from new, owner is experienced, careful and competent, cruised lightly but regularly, constant professional maintenance and upgrades as needed etc etc.
Plus the fact that she is simply a stunning example of one of the finest 48 footers ever made. Easy on the eye, fast, sea-kindly and of course very comfortable below decks.
She is easily manoeuvred and sailed short handed as the owner has been diligent in the set-up of the rig with powered winches, cleverly led to cockpit lines, in-mast reefing, bow thruster to name but a few.
