Broker's Comments

These Ted Hood designed yachts have a near legendary status amongst cruising sailors, 179 were built between 1978 and 1989, with a displacement of 22,046 lbs, 50% ballast ratio and a lifting keel they are equally at home offshore or exploring creeks, ( take a look at the pictures of the core samples, they don't build them like that anymore ), this one was previously owned by a small craft marine surveyor and it shows. She has recently had 46,000 $ spent on her on maintenance and upgrades as follows:
Built new Genset Battery box from epoxy glass and close cell foam & installed
Replaced Genset battery in Feb 2015 with AGM
Remove head cabinet and rebuilt with new marine ply and formica, use original teak from and doors and re install.
Removed bulkhead between chain locker and line storage locker and installed a new epoxy glass 1" thick foam bulkhead.
Removed exhaust hoses and water lift mufflers for engine and gen set and replace with new hoses, new SS 316 custom built mufflers and 316 T bolt clamps.
Installed 12 V DC LPG solenoid shutoff system with led switch in galley.
Removed cockpit drain hoses and placed with new hoses and SS 316 T bolt clamps.
Replaced head sink drain thru hull sea cock, hose and clamps with bronze thru hull & sea cock, wire reinforced hose and SS 316 t bolt clamps.
Remove left side of rudder, remove all old foam, inspect SS internal supports and rudder shaft (all in top condition). Install new closed cell foam, install a new left side on
the rudder of epoxy and glass wrapped ⅓ of the way around the front and rear of the right side of the rudder.
Removed and replaced the stern (cutlass) bearing.
Removed and disassembled Maxi prop and greased, reassembled and re installed.
Replaced zinc’s on prop and prop shaft.
Sand and paint bottom w 2 coats of International anti-fouling.
Strip cockpit varnish and re-varnish.
Remove Jib / Genoa & Main Sail take to Rolly Tasker for cleaning and repair, including replacement of sun cover on genoa.
Remove existing toilet and replace with a new Jabsco electric toilet w/ new hoses and SS 316 clamps.
Repair 15hp Mercury Outboard, replace Stator winding in electrical system, Service engine including replacing gear oil.
Replaced Tri-color / Anchor light assembly and added LED bulb on anchor light.
Removed Water maker high pressure pump, disassemble and have new parts made, reassemble and re install.
Remove Water maker membranes and take to shop to have dis assembled flushed / cleaned, tested and reassembled. Re install in boat.
Purchase and install new high pressure liquid filled gauge for water maker.
Upgrade 4 KVA Shore Power transformer with cooling fan.
Install 2 x 2 KVA 110VAC transformers w/ cooling fans and wire in 220v recitals
through out the boat.
Install new Air conditioner control unit.
Service Yanmar main and Kubota/Beta Marine Genset, including belts, filters and lube
oil and zinc.
Replace all fuel hoses and clamps, replace Racor fuel filter elements, re-plumb system so the re-circulation / boost pump is down stream from Racor's. Clean both fuel tanks and refill with clean fuel.
Replace all interior and cockpit lights and rope lighting with LED’s including new
fixtures for main saloon.
Remove defect starter and install a new starter on Yanmar.
Repair Air conditioner leak in system and recharge system with R22.
Remove center hatch, repair screw holes with epoxy paste, clean sand and reinstall hatch with new 3M 4200 sealant.
Replaced the tubes on the RIB at Cholamark / modified cover
Purchased new 2.5 HP 4 stroke Sail Outboard
Purchased new Marino 50ft pre-made shore power cable .
Remove the existing depth transduce and speed transducer. Repair hull where speed
transducer was removed. Modify hull and install new Garmin Traducer (Depth, Temp.
Speed) in the original location of the depth transducer. DS200 Garmin/Airmart
Transducer with NEMA 2000 cable.
Remove the existing air sensors on the top of the mast and install and new Garmin wind
& direction sensor with new NEMA 2000 cable.
sand and paint bottom with 2 coat of International anti-fouling.
Install new Michigan 3 blade 16 X 12 bronze propeller and zincs. ( Store Maxi feathering prop on boat )
Replace whole boat canvas with new Tecomar Sunbrella cover sewn with Teara thread.
New hatch cover for front hatch, new hatch cover for rear hatch, winch covers, new windless cover.
Install new windows (plastic) in dodger and re-sew dodger with Teara thread.
Tecomar cover for dinghy .
Tecomar covers for covers for dodger windows.
Replaced Kubota Genset glow plugs with fast acting (3 sec.) glow plugs.
Remove existing autopilot drive & controller, modify the boat to accept the new Garmin
Class A autopilot drive Install new autopilot drive and controller. Garmin GHP-12 core pac with GHC-20 control head and Garmin Autopilot Remote control at helm.
Add a 3rd GMI-20 Garmin instrument and install where the Data marine instrument was
installed and connect to NEMA 2000 net work.
Install Garmin GPSmap 721 at the helm, cable into NEMA 2000 system.
Replace bilge pump hoses and added a 2nd thru hull so both bilge pumps have separate discharges. install new SS 316 clamps.
Replace Air conditioner cooling hoses and Air Con cooling thru hull, Install new SS 316 clamps.
Replace all NAV lights with LED bulbs.
Service the Yanmar and Kubota.
Remove all exiting batteries (house, engine start & genset). Install a total of 5 ea. new RITAR Deep Cycle AGM batteries for a total of 600 amp hrs. Re-cable the boat with new marine battery cables and crimp on terminal ends.
