At the same time of launching Peter Poland’s ‘favourite shed boat’, the very highly-regarded pilot-house Hunter Pilot 27, British Hunter brought out the 265. This was a conventional aft-cockpit yacht based on the same hull. It was spacious and fast for its length, but not everyone appreciated the somewhat bulbous nature of the coach-roof. So it was, a few years later, that the 265 was superseded by the Channel 27. Distinguishable most obviously from its predecessor by the trade-mark triple forward-facing windows debuted on her smaller sister the Channel 245, the Channel 27 kept the same proven hull, but the coach-roof moulding was a complete re-work. Despite the more modern looks, she retained the 265’s impressive accommodation. This example is well-equipped and in good order. Down below, the upholstery is bright and firm. Her sails are in good order, the engine gleams and she’s ready to go. This is a super cruiser; versatile, practical and capable.
