It was great to catch up with Gary Buck from Boatshed Seattle - he has recently been crowned Top Agent 2015 by Waterline boats.

MP: Gary, what was your first experience of boating?
GB: As a young man my father in-law had power boats on salt water. I enjoyed the smell and tranquility of the sea.

MP: And what did you do before you were a broker?
GB: I managed sales for 7 years in the western United States for an east coast manufacturer of plastic foam products (17 states plus Mexico and Canada) Before that sales and production management in the plastic foam and packaging industry.

MP: And what is it you like about being a broker?
GB: I love meeting people and spending lots of time on boats.

MP: What do you generally do in a day?
GB: I check emails first thing and work out of the office 2-3 days per week. The rest of my time I am following up on contacts and assist in growing the business. I work maybe 30 hours per week.

MP: When you are out on the water, what's your favourite sound track ?
GB: I'm a great fan of current country hits and light rock.

MP: And your favourite movie?
GB: That'd have to be Summer of ‘42 (MP: I had to check this one - it's a 1971 American comedy drama)

MP: What's your favourite food at sea?
GB: Tuna sandwiches, potato chips and a cold beer.

MP: What is your favourite anchorage / sailing destination?
GB: Desolation Sound British Columbia, Canada and really anything north of The Juan de Fuca Straight

MP: And what's the best or worst advice received
GB: Tending the garden is part of the blessing. (Said differently, Work is good!)

MP: Who would be your personal hero/heroine?
GB: No one specific but generally people that invest their lives in the service of others.
