Broker's Comments

My first impression of this boat was how incredibly clean it was for a boat on a swinging mooring. Either the local gulls, not noted for their reverence, were giving it a miss or here was a boat that is being very well looked after. The deck positively sparkles. Closer inspection reveals the care that has gone into maintaining this as a highly practical cruiser. The running rigging looks clean and recent throughout and the comprehensive array of control lines all lead back through meticulously labelled jammers. This sense of order extends below, where everything is neat, tidy and in good order. The more mature among us will remember the MG Spring’s fame as the yacht of choice on “Howard’s Way”, a TV drama of yachting folk on the Hamble, but the type easily stands on its own reputation as a fast cruiser, still successfully raced by many. She offers good accommodation for her length, and has lots of clever touches such as the open plan seating around the table. At night the forward back rest hinges up to extend the length of the V-berth to adult dimensions. There is a good-sized aft cabin and separate heads aft on either side of the companionway. Engine access is superb, with all the regular check items, including stern greaser and the cooling water strainer, positioned ready to hand. This is well-sorted and fine example of a popular and versatile yacht.
