The Single-handed Trans-Atlantic Race, or OSTAR, is an east-to-west yacht race across the North Atlantic, inaugurated in 1960, it was the first single-handed ocean yacht race. It is run from Plymouth to the Newport in the USA and is held every four years.
The Boatshed Performance team sailed into Plymouth today to get a report at the low key start.
The race is westwards against the prevailing winds of the north Atlantic over a distance of around 3,000 nautical miles.
