A stylish sports cruiser, the Bavaria 330 provides all that a family could wish for in a great value package. She’ll cruise at a comfortable 25 knots, or whizz along at over 36 if you are feeling adventurous! She had a new canopy and three new batteries in 2008, and heating installed in 2009, so she has had plenty of attention in the last couple of years – she has all the goodies you’d expect. Well finished down below, with plenty of space and a great galley, I particularly like the fact that the heads has two doors – don’t ask me why I like it, I don’t know, I just like it. When we saw the vessel she was stored ashore for the winter so our photos may not do it full justice. However the exterior of the boat is in very good condition. The varnished wood is covered as extra protection. The interior is stowed for winter so a little imagination is required. Only 8 of these were built by Moody so these are on the cusp of becoming classic collectors boats. There is accommodation for a whole family of up to six in this cute boat. This Moody Halberdier 36 was one of the last to be finished by Moodys. Designed as a true motor-sailer by Alan Hill they have travelled far and wide since and are a fine choice for long distance cruising or tackling the more inclement weathers around Northern Europe. This particular Halberdier is perhaps a little dated and a new owner may wish to update some of the electronics and equipment but the original build quality shines through and she seems perfectly serviceable as she is. The separate aft cabin and heads makes this a great boat for when family and friends come to visit and the saloon and galley are plenty big enough to cope with everyone. The Wheelhouse also provides extra living space in port and keeps the aft cabin within the accommodation, avoiding that awful dash across the cockpit last thing on boats with open cockpits. The deck is well laid out and spacious with a good deep bulwark all round for extra safety.
