Italy-headquartered gyro stabilisation company Smartgyro is expanding across the Australasian market, partnering with Power Equipment in Australia and New Zealand, and Electrical Marine in Thailand.

One of the largest Australian-based engine suppliers (its network comprises 398 dealers), Power Equipment serves customers ranging from small pleasure craft owners to superyachts, along with commercial vessels, defence and emergency services organisations.

“We are extremely pleased to add Smartgyro to our lineup, it gives us the ability to fully service and provide a full range of propulsion, on-water power, propellers and stabilisation products to our marine dealers and customers,” says Luke Foster, CEO of Power Equipment (pictured above with Smartgyro’s Pieter Feenstra.)

“With our world-class parts and warehouse infrastructure, along with our highly experienced marine team and vast dealer network, we are well placed to grow the Smartgyro brand throughout Australia and New Zealand,” he continues. “The Smartgyro products speak for themselves, and this is another step for us to grow our range of quality brands. We are a family-owned company that has been a leader in the marine industry for 35 years, and we continue to invest in the business and have long-term stability.”

Australian customers can explore Smartgyro’s solutions at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in Queensland between 23-26 May 2024.

In tandem with its Australasian expansion, Smartgyro has partnered with Electrical Marine, a navigational equipment company based in Phuket, Thailand. Smartgyro says the collaboration ‘opens up new avenues for Smartgyro in the dynamic Asian market’, underlining the company’s commitment to ‘establishing a strong foothold in the region.’

“Our partnership with Smartgyro represents a significant achievement in our ongoing commitment to delivering cutting-edge navigational solutions,” says Damian Barrett, EMCL founder. “Leveraging over 30 years of industry experience, our expertise harmonises seamlessly with Smartgyro’s innovative approach, reinforcing our standing as industry experts.”

Pieter Feenstra, Smartgyro’s sales director adds: “We are thrilled to embark on these transformative partnerships with Power Equipment and Electrical Marine, marking significant milestones in Smartgyro’s global expansion strategy.

“Collaborating with Power Equipment, a venerable leader in the Australian and New Zealand marine industry, reinforces our commitment to delivering cutting-edge stabilization solutions to diverse customers.

“Simultaneously, our alliance with Electrical Marine in Thailand strengthens our presence in the dynamic South Pacific market.”

Stabiliser pioneer Smartgyro is eyeing new markets and larger boats as part of its expansion plan. The firm debuted the SG150, its largest model to date, at boot Düsseldorf 2023.

It is anticipated that new, larger models will help fill an increasing demand from the yacht charter market where the benefits of gyroscopic marine stabilisation open up the seas to clients who may not have chartered before due to concerns around motion-related discomfort.

Earlier this month, two of Smartgyro’s major US distributors, Mack Boring & Parts Co. and Yanmar Mastry Engine Center, appointed new dealers as the firm expands its global footprint.
