Broker's Comments

This boat has been viewed and photographed by Peter Watt of Boatshed Portsmouth. Register or log in to see 44 more photos of this boat. In the words of the owner, this boat is for sale "due to advancing years -the owners not the boats!". The overall condition can be best described as in good working order, in need of a bit of updating in certain areas. However this should not detract from the fact that she is a very light and airy boat with surprising volume for her length. I am reliably informed that she performs heroically in big seas and has been known to tackle unpleasant wind over tide with greater enthusiasm than the crew. In summary the Southerly 28' is a great family motor-sailer, as capable of taking on rough weather as she is of taking the ground. With her swing-keel the odd embarrassing moment can be avoided. A wisened old sea-dog once told me, "there are two types of sailor -those that have run aground and those that are going to." These boat details are subject to contract.
