Back in the day, the Tomahawk 25 sold in quite large numbers and it is easy to see why. They are well constructed, have modern lines, good space below and sail well with good pointing and acceptable leeway properties for a bilge keeler. With a safe feeling and dry cockpit, together with a sensible layout which belies her 25’ she was built and did a good job of, selling against the also popular ‘Centaur’.
This particular one I sensed was well found, well put together and business like. The fact that she is on her mooring, in use by the current owner and seemed ready to cast lines is always an advantage. As with any boat on a swinging mooring, she would benefit from a haul out, a bit of a scrub and polish but this is true of most used boats. The sails are of an unknown age, but my brief inspection showed them to be serviceable and in reasonable condition for normal coastal/day cruising usage. The current owner reports the engine to be ‘on the button’ and all instruments work.
