Bristol Yachts as started by the ex Boss of the Pearson Yachts, Clint Pearson, in 1964, when he purchased the assets of Sailstar Yachts and the Poppasquash Point boat yard, where he started producing his first yachts. The first being the Bristol 27 designed by Carl Alberg , of which 337 were built before production ceased in 1978. Subsequent designers include Halsey Herreshoff, Ted Hood and John Alden Associates.
