Broker's Comments

Nauticat motor-sailers are well known and much sought-after. This Mark 1 example appears to be well-equipped and nicely presented, both inside and out, with plenty of varnished timber on show.

Many Mk 1 Nauticat 33s suffered significant deck problems associated with the use of inappropriate materials. In this case the deck was completely re-built in the 1990s, a process taking three years, and documented extensively in photographs. The original non-marine ply and defective beams were removed and rebuilt, using marine ply. That in turn was glassed over, then epoxied and new teak veneer applied on top.

There is some blistering in the hull, which I understand, from the 2013 survey, is probably not osmotic, confined to the gel-coat, and unlikely to affect the strength of the hull or the laminate. The condition of the hull is reflected in the asking price, however.
