Broker's Comments

A very nicely presented example of the popular Trapper 300 cruiser/racer. She appears to have been well maintained and both the decks and the interior are all clean and tidy.
The Trapper 300s were all built as dual-purpose cruiser-racers. In total about 180 were built by Trapper Yachts of Poole and in common with most other quarter-tonners of the period, the Trapper has a wide beam and very flared topsides, giving a lot of power to windward if you put crew weight outboard on the rail. Nevertheless, she has enough ballast to be sailed efficiently without racing-style crew placement. I have read that at least one has been sailed transatlantic with a crew including three children!
The design is said to be fast to windward, and not slow off the wind. In May 2009 Practical Boat Owner reviewed the class, and reported that the boats were ".... light on the helm and delightfully responsive; one of the few boats that you want to sail for the pure fun of sailing."

So if you want to cruise or sail with a good turn of speed in a very modestly priced yacht, then this example is definitely worth your attention.

To be re-launched 5th April 2014.
