The 37.8m Delta Marine motor yacht Chanson has suffered serious damage after a blaze broke out on board while it was docked in Baker’s Bay in the Bahamas.

Multiple sources report that one firefighter suffered injuries during the incident on Friday (8 March 2024) after falling from the truck attending the scene, and was air-lifted to the capital, Nassau, for treatment. No other injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire has not been confirmed, but several reports on social media and yachting forums indicate it started in the area where the toys are usually stored, aft towards the beach club.

The yacht’s 12-metre tender was seen drifting away from the superyacht, still burning, before eventually being destroyed by the flames.

The Delta Marine 124 model, which was delivered in 1998 and refitted in 2015, can accommodate eight guests in four cabins, and six crew in three cabins. It is powered by twin Detroit engines for speeds up to seventeen knots and has completed numerous transatlantic crossings.

Chanson was last sold in 2017 with a last known asking price of $4.5m.
