Broker's Comments
How many Centaur owners must there have been since the early seventies, when the most popular British-built cruiser first transformed people's expectations of what could be acheived in a 26' boat? Say with average of four owners each, thats about 10,000 happy people. And Centaurs are still going strong. Most have been re-engined by now, including this one, now with a gleaming red Beta diesel, about five years old, replacing the original Volvo Penta. Much else has been added that would have seemed space-age at the time she was built; In-mast furling for the main and roller-furling fore-sail, GPS, central heating, DSC VHF radio and refrigeration, for example. She retains all the intrinsic virtues of the type of course: spacious and versatile accommodation, solid construction, substantial scantlings and a sailing ability that most agree surpass her slightly utilitarian looks.
Until quite recently she has been used regularly, and has been well maintained. Like many boats on a swinging mooring, she would benefit from a bit of a scrub, but all the essentials are there. This is a fine example of the twin quarter-berth layout version. She's well equipped and is offered at a keen price.
