Broker's Comments

The Fulmar was one of Westerly’s finest creations. Only a shade under 32’ overall, she packed in a great balance of accommodation and storage within a hull whose proportions and lines look just right. This is a twin keeled model, with a 20HP twin-cylindered Bukh diesel driving a two-bladed prop on shaft. Outside, the decks are wide and uncluttered. Running rigging is led back to a cockpit that strikes a nice compromise between roominess and security. The main sheet runs to a transom-mounted traveller, an arrangement that maximises leverage and keeps the cockpit clear. There is a massive locker to starboard. Descend the companionway, and enter into a Westerly wooden wonderland, with loads of storage within numerous lockers both above and below the saloon settee berths. To starboard, the galley is a model of intelligent stowage and functional design. To port is a huge forward-facing nav station, with the head of the generously-sized quarter berth doubling up as the navigator’s seat. This is a modern classic, obtainable at a realistic price.
