The boiler was manufactured in 1969 and was installed during th refit soon after. This is coupled to a 1900 two cylinder compound engine. The machinery is fully operational, and the boiler has a recent safety certificate (to 300psi against a normal operating pressure of 140 psi)
The engine was built in Cowes circa 1900. The vertical circular boiler is unusual in that the fire tubes extend radially around a central fire box to an outer smoke box, The outside cladding of the boiler is also the surface of the smoke box. In the top of the firebox is a bell shaped damper which if open exhausts the heat directly up the chimney or if closed through the fire tubes.

Broker's Comments

This beautiful launch will provide leisurely cruising up and down the river in a style and elegance from a century ago. With the unique sound and smell of a glorous steam engine providing the power. Evoking images of Victorian times.
Hopefully the pictures will do justice to the condition of this classic steam launch. The wooden carvel built hull was built circa 1900. It was restored by Freebody's between 1965 and 1971. Harrison designed the boiler which was built in 1969 and installed in 1971 together with the Guy 2 cylinder engine.
