Board astern from the swim platform through the gated transom door. Or though the port or starboard side access door to the cockpit. The cockpit is very roomy, with a warm and nautical teak sole, and is a classy spot from which to observe the world -- the interior of the cockpit bulwarks is attractively molded "planking" and the gleaming teak caprails (there's just enough varnished teak to elicit a "wow" and to distinguish this as a very fine fine yacht) make this an unusually lovely cockpit. Steps up on each side afford safe access to the wide and secure side decks.

The salon is entered through double tightly-sealing aluminum doors. The interior is tastefully decorated and comfortable, with large windows for visibility, an L-shaped settee and twin Ekornes Stressless recliners. The galley is large, with plenty of granite countertop space and storage, and features a Force 10 propane range and a full-size GE refrigerator/freezer with cherry door paneling.

The cherry joinery throughout is beautifully crafted. Storage cabinets, lockers and drawers are fitted everywhere it seems.

The pilothouse offers great forward visibility, easy exterior access through port and starboard pilothouse dutch doors, and a raised settee that converts to a double berth. The helm station is exceptionally commanding -- with a Stidd helm chair, dual multi-function displays, and a well-arrayed control panel.

Forward from the pilothouse the companionway leads to the master stateroom forward, with its own head and shower. The space in this stateroom is exceptional -- both elbow room and standing room. The bed is a full queen. Large storage lockers and many drawers -- and an electric lift on the bed to easily access the space beneath the berth.

The guest stateroom with its pull-out double berth also functions as an office with a nicely-integrated desk included. And there's a Murphy bed for an additional single berth. The guest head has a separate shower compartment.

The GE stacked 220v washer/dryer facility is hidden by cabinet doors in the companionway. Access to the engine room is view watertight door from the aft end of the companionway.

The flybridge has a Stidd helm chair, full instrumentation, and an L-shaped settee. The bridgedeck holds the dinghy, and also provides additional space for lounge chairs.

Broker's Comments

A true head-turner in both appearance and performance, this new 2011 Krogen Express 52' has been the company's showboat and is available in its fully-equipped (including nav electronics, active stabilizers, generator and more) and ready-to-cruise configuration.

She's a beauty wherever you look, right down to her bones. The engineroom, the bilges, the auxiliary machinery spaces all display nice order, precise construction, and well-painted surfaces. The living spaces are well-thought-out, beautiful without being ostentatious, and configured for comfortable living. And the exterior is classic and modern at the same time -- gorgeous long lines, just the right amount of deeply varnished teak, quality rails and fittings, and a stunning Awlgrip hull and superstructure.

I had the good fortune to enjoy a test ride on this boat. She's as enjoyable underway as you'd expect from this James Krogen design -- slicing through the waves easily, flat in turns, and remarkably quiet (with numerous design features contributing) even while running at 20+ knots.

This turn-key new yacht can be shipped world-wide.
