Broker's Comments

Rusalka, ex Artemis 1, ex Pindar and originally built as Hexagon is reluctantly for sale by her owner having been purchased for use as a private yacht in late 2009. Rusalka is a swing keel water ballasted IMOCA Open 60 and is one of the lightest of any generation ever built. Even with the increased weight of modifications to her rig bringing her in line with later Owen Clarke designs she still measures in at 8,500kg. Rusalka has been continually professionally maintained and updated throughout her life by her owners/skippers including Mike (Moose) Sanderson. As a result, she's still a very fast Open 60 and is also the last of the Open 60's built that would have been valid for the Eco 60 class in the VELUX 5 OCEANS RACE 2010-11

Rusalka's last transatlantic race was the 2008 TJV and prior to this her original keel was replaced. During that race, as "Artemis 1", she was dismasted and a new Formula Spars rig was stepped and new North 3DL fore and aft sails built. The yacht has since sailed approximately only 8,000 miles.

Prior to purchase by the existing owner a full condition survey was undertaken which included ultrasound checks to the keel and composite structure, the mast having been checked earlier in the year. The refit included in addition to general servicing, re-spraying of the deck, topsides, bottom, appendages and the yacht is now predominantly white. The hydraulics were overhauled, engine and saildrive replaced, interior redesigned and a basic galley fitted, plus much more. In all a quarter of a million pound refit undertaken/overseen with the help of her original designers and the Artemis team.

Her schedule over the past 2 years has seen her perform more of a corporate function and as a result she has covered few miles offshore and has been well maintained by the Artemis Ocean Racing team before being briefly in the hands of the existing owner who retained Simon Clay, her boat captain to look after her.

Best result in a transatlantic race: Third, 2004 Transat Anglais (formerly the OSTAR)
