Broker's Comments
I found this Nimbus Maxi 1000 a beautiful boat, combining great looks and performance with true ease of handling. This Maxi 1000 is a great opportunity for someone to purchase a particularly fine example...
She has a large sail area, a generous rig, a good ballast ratio, halyards led aft and a self-tacking jib for beating to windward. All this, plus her relatively light weight, mean that she should be an absolute pleasure to sail. I did not get the chance when I was on board to sail her!
She is well finished and has been extremely well looked after by a careful owner. This makes life easier for her new owner, with a new pump in the heads, a new (unfitted) windlass and a new winter cover currently being made. She also has a good wardrobe of sails, including a brand new, unused mainsail and jib.
Externally she looks great with her long, sleek lines and navy blue stripes. And below deck even final finishing touches like new curtains have been considered. She has a spacious, well thought out galley which makes cooking easily manageable and her teak woodwork in the saloon, galley and cabins adds to the feeling of real warmth and comfort. She also has a decent sized bathing platform with storage for a kedge anchor. There is also a sprayhood and a large cockpit with 2 sensibly sized lockers, one of which even has a space to neatly stow the folding cockpit table.
Berth-wise she accommodates 6/7, with 2 double cabins and 3 berths in the saloon. The forward cabin has 2 spacious bunks with stowage space underneath and the aft cabin felt particularly comfortable, with a small hatch into the cockpit giving extra ventilation and light. Comfort-wise, her salon berths also have lee cloths for longer passages and she has Ardic heating for cruising in colder and wetter climes.
Never raced, she has been used for family cruising, most recently in the Adriatic.
