Following success in the Britain’s Got Talent auditions, Derek Sandy is set to make an appearance during a series of Wightlink crossings over the next few weekends. An island favourite turned national treasure, Derek is best known for his song ‘Welcome to the Isle of Wight, which earned him four yeses on the hit talent show.

Derek will be performing on several crossings of the Solent on Saturday 18, Friday 24 and Saturday 25 May, as well as Saturday 1 June. He plans to spread his love of the Isle of Wight to all passengers on board the ferry company’s newest vessel – Victoria of Wight – who will be treated to a ferry crossing like no other. The performances will take place on crossings from Portsmouth to Fishbourne route at 11am and 1pm.

Commenting on the announcement, Derek said: I can’t wait to perform on board Wightlink’s Victoria of Wight this summer and share my love of the Isle of Wight with the passengers and crew. I’m really happy that my music has raised the profile of the Island and hope it will encourage more people to visit in the future.”

For those interested in seeing Derek live on board, tickets can be purchased from the Wightlink website: https://www.wightlink.co.uk/.
