Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), the parent company of brands including Alumacraft, Manitou, Sea-Doo, Rotax and Quintrex, has opened a European design and innovation centre in Sophia Antipolis, France.

The Canadian vehicle manufacturer says the new centre will play a major role in its global electrification strategy, which includes plans to have 50 per cent of all units sold powered by electricity by 2035. The firm also aims to offer electric models in each of its existing product lines.

“Design and innovation are at the heart of our strategy and of our values. We will never stop pushing boundaries in order to offer consumers products that make their daily travels easier and allow them to explore new playgrounds,” says José Boisjoli, president and chief executive of BRP.

In January, MIN reported that BRP is beginning construction of an additional boat manufacturing plant in Chihuahua City, Mexico.

“We are proud to inaugurate the design and innovation centre in Sophia Antipolis, our first in Europe, which will allow us to strengthen our understanding of the market dynamics. This local presence, combined with the ingenuity of our teams and BRP’s culture of innovation, will enable us to better serve our consumers, our dealers and our partners in Europe,” he adds.

In addition to its work on concepts related to sustainable mobility, BRP says the centre’s team will provide design services to internal BRP partners in Europe and Scandinavia.
