A range of new initiatives for 2020 have been announced by the Royal Southampton Yacht Club, as well as an elected the team of Flag Officers who will see the plans through.

  • The Club’s Membership fees will be frozen at their current low levels
  • The age limit for younger adult Membership will rise from 29 to 34
  • All RSYC racing (both fully crewed and double handed) will be free to Members

The Club is the leading organiser of double handed racing and the launch of the Club’s 40th anniversary Series of races for 2020 alongside those for the Club’s fully crewed racing has also been announced.

In additio there is a full programme of social events for the coming year and a programme for cruising sailors, both motor and sail, including participation in next summer’s Mayflower 400 celebration of the 400th anniversary of the voyage of the Pilgrim Fathers.

New Commodore Bob Trimble said: “We’re tremendously proud of our heritage but we also pride ourselves on being a very friendly and welcoming club. We have been busy re-organising our structure and systems to face a buoyant modern future. We have a great staff, a wonderful Clubhouse at Gins and a growing membership. Our main focus is on providing our Members, sailors and non-sailors alike, with the best possible range of benefits including a broad programme of social, cruising and racing events whilst still giving a warm welcome to visitors.”
