With over 1,000 new objects on display, you will be able to uncover hidden histories, reimagine familiar stories and reflect on your connection to the sea.

Polar Worlds
Discover the challenges faced by polar explorers as they navigate these brutal environments, and learn more about scientific discovery and Arctic and Antarctic wildlife.
Pacific Encounters
Reflect on the legacy of European exploration. Hear the voices of indigenous communities, from their first meetings with Westerners to the legacy of those meetings today.
Tudor and Stuart Seafarers
From monarchs to pirates, discover the story of exploration, adventure, power, wealth and conflict as Britain emerged as a global maritime power.
Sea Things
What does the sea mean to you? Encounter surprising stories from the deep and get up close and personal to many of our objects on ‘open display’.
