Specialist galley manufacturer GN Espace has produced its smallest electric oven to date, the Levante Built-in. It believes it’s ideal for yacht and motorboat owners wanting to upgrade their LPG oven or microwave to a full electric oven. It’s only 45cm wide and is fast heating. Despite only using 1250W it reaches 200°C in eight minutes.

“The oven was produced in response to feedback and input from owners wanting a proper oven where typically a microwave might have previously been installed, or where there was the space size for one,” says Ralph Olingschlaeger, director at GN Espace. In comparison, the largest oven produced by the company is the Oceanchef at 36 litres. “Owners and their families like to cook in the same way and get the same results as they would if they were at home. When the oven is combined with a GN Espace electric induction hob it provides an even more comprehensive upgrade to electric.

Olingschlaeger has noted the clear market movement towards all-electric boats. “This is giving us the opportunity to develop our product range to provide efficient electric cooking, a development which has been our focus over the past few years,” he continues.

“We have now managed to overcome the considerable challenge of using electric power at sea, tuning the available technology and construction methods to ensure there is no compromise to cooking results.

“With yachts moving towards all-electric capabilities and away from fossil fuel generation and gas cooking, we at GN Espace set our goal fifteen years ago to use the template of our marine gas cookers to develop advanced electric versions.

“The materials and construction used in the gas models that are still sold today were put through their paces in the tough marine environment, providing a proven foundation on which to develop our electric induction cookers ranges. By using marine grade components we are seeing the successful performance of our products at sea.

“At the same time, we are extending our reach into more diverse sectors including non-marine markets, like the luxury motorhome and explorer vehicle market.”

The Levante is manufactured from marine grade stainless steel, and has door locks and anti-tip oven shelves designed to securely hold the tray, wire trivet and wire shelf inside. Plus it features a hot air grill, standard grill, defrost and LED indicator lights. It comes with solid or glass door options.

GN Espace expects the non-gimbled Levante Built-in to be especially popular on motorboats and catamarans looking to optimise cooking space.
