Hampshire marina named Marina of the Year

Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour, on the Beaulieu River on the UK south coast, has won Marina of the Year at the British Yachting Awards 2022.

Receiving the greatest number of votes from a shortlist of six marinas, the accolade recognises Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour as the marina that provides the warmest welcome and the best facilities and services for sailors, and highlights it as a must-visit sailing destination.

Harbour Master Wendy Stowe collected the award at the British Yachting Awards ceremony hosted by the Royal Thames Yacht Club in Knightsbridge, London, on Monday (28 November 2022), and presented by Sailing Today with Yachts and Yachting.

“We are thrilled to have won this award, and it’s a great reflection on the hard work and dedication of the whole marina team, as well as our upgraded facilities and increased range of services on offer,” says Stowe. “Marina of the Year is so highly sought-after in the industry, it’s a real feather in our cap to have won.”

The marina of Barneville-Carteret, across the Channel in France, was highly commended in the same category.

Other winners include Beneteau First 36 (Performance Yacht of the Year); Sevenstar Round Britain & Ireland Race (Event of the Year); Cruising Association CAptain’s Mate app (Equipment Innovation of the Year); SailGP (Outstanding Achievement of the Year); and Tall Ships Youth Trust (Charity of the Year). Helly Hansen won Clothing Innovation of the Year for its Skagen Jacket.
