Make the most of the May bank holiday and get out on the water for the final weekend of RYA Push the Boat Out, the month long event to get the nation sailing and windsurfing.

With the forecast currently predicting warm weather what better reason to have a go at one of the 40 events around the UK which are offering free or low cost sailing taster sessions for all this weekend.

RYA Club Support Advisor Jackie Bennetts said: “Push the Boat Out has been fantastic so far with thousands of people experiencing being out on the water in beautiful weather and discovering how they can be part of their local sailing venue.

“We still have another bank holiday of events to look forward to so don’t worry if you missed out. PTBO events provide a fantastic day out for the whole family whether you are looking for a new way to spend time together, an activity to keep fit outdoors or simply a sociable sport you can enjoy with your friends.

At Carrickfergus Sailing Club, one father who took his young son along to a Push the Boat Out event said: “We’ve never tried sailing before and have just moved home to Northern Ireland after living in England for years. It’s been great to try something new, something that we can do together.”

Throughout the whole Month, there are nearly 400 sailing venues across the UK opening their doors and running free or low cost Push the Boat Out ‘have a go’ taster sessions.

With sailing being one of the most inclusive sports around, there are plenty of venues able to cater for people across the spectrum of disabilities and activities for people of all ages.
