Neander Motors appoints new chief engineer

German outboard manufacturer, Neander Motors, has appointed Ben Sherwood as its new chief engineer.

Sherwood will be responsible for leading the engineering team to develop the Dtorque, which the firm says will provide further opportunities for Neander to expand its distributor network in the US market. He will also be refining company systems to support the development of a larger and more complex product range in the future.

Sherwood joins Neander following 26 years of experience in engineering, having previously worked for FIAT GM in Italy, Lotus Cars in Malaysia and the UK, as well as Ricardo, Jaguar Land Rover and COX Powertrain.

“It’s great to join Neander and a fantastic opportunity to work with the German team in Kiel, I’m still a European at heart!” says Sherwood. “The Neander technology is very interesting with the twin crankshaft design.”

Joel Reid, global sales director at Neander, adds: “We are very excited to welcome Ben to the team, he brings a wealth of experience and skills in complex product design and development, and it is evident that he is hugely passionate about our product.”

Earlier this year, Neander expanded its distributor network into Florida’s gulf coast,  with the appointment of transmission experts ADR Power Systems.
