Suzuki Marine USA has appointed Nobuo Suyama as its new president. Suyama, who has been with the company for four decades, will be based at the company’s US headquarters in Tampa, Florida.

Since 2014, Suyama had been serving as managing director/president at Suzuki GB (distributing automobiles, motorcycles, ATV and outboard motors).

“It is my great pleasure to return to the marine business, which I enjoyed very much in my younger days with Suzuki,” says Suyama. His first position with Suzuki Motor Corporation was as a salesperson in the overseas marine and power products department, where he spent 11 years.

“I am looking forward to working closely with the great staff at Suzuki Marine USA, our many boatbuilder partners and our more than 1,200 dealers across America to continue the significant market growth Suzuki has enjoyed over recent years. I’m confident that even greater growth is on the horizon, and that Suzuki will continue to increase its reputation as a leading innovator and top outboard brand across the US boating industry.”

The company says that Suyama’s decades of experience and deep knowledge of Suzuki products and the Suzuki brand, makes him the ideal candidate to fill this challenging role and take Suzuki Marine to new levels of growth in the US marine market.

Suyama’s replacement in the UK is Takanori Suzuki. He previously held the position of managing director between 2006 and 2010. As well as taking up the role of SGB MD, Takanori Suzuki will retain his position as division general manager, European market for SMC Automobile.

Earlier this year, Suzuki GB launched a campaign in collaboration with sustainable apparel manufacturer, OceanR, to help remove plastics from oceans. The initiative saw Suzuki commit to the removal of 1kg of plastic waste from the oceans with every outboard sold in the UK from then until the end of March 2023.
