‘The Drop’ gives brave participants the feeling of freefall as they leap from a platform 25 metres above sea level – but they are jumping safe in the knowledge that a harness and rigging will ensure they have a safe landing.

Cowes Classics Week 2018 is just 4 weeks away

With less than a month to go before the start of the 11th Cowes Classics Week, entries in the classic keelboat fleets and cruiser classes are already looking to equal last year’s total including the magnificent 8 Metres.

The regatta is on course to attract over 150 yachts, all of whom meet the qualification of being built to designs drawn up before 1968 or in the spirit of tradition.  The event looks to be another classic of Classics in a week that will once again provide thrilling Solent race courses and entertainment every evening.

Will you be sailing around the Solent this summer? Keep your eye out for a strange looking ocean rowing boat with the ‘Grandads of the Atlantic’ on board….

From their base in Port Solent Marina, Neil Young and Peter Ketley are currently preparing to undertake the ‘world’s toughest rowing race’, the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, which will see 30 teams attempt to row unassisted 3,000 miles across the Atlantic from the Canary Islands to Antigua.

Britain’s America’s Cup team, INEOS TEAM UK, is set to join the 2018 GC32 Racing Tour.

Four-time Olympic gold medallist Ben Ainslie will be at the helm for the team’s debut in the 32ft foiling catamarans, later this month at the GC32 Lagos Cup in Portugal for the second event of the European tour over 27 June – 1 July.

Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust set sails for 15th year

The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is set to start its summer season of trips with young people in recovery from cancer.

2018 marks a special year for the Trust as it celebrates its 15th year of operation. From the first trip in 2003 where just five young people joined the charity, in 2018 the Trust will take over 663 young people sailing over the next four months.

Fairline Yachts has released the first images of its 2018 48ft range.

This is the first time the British boat builder has shot its main campaign imagery in Australia. The move comes as Fairline’s Australian dealer recently took delivery of the full range of models, comprising of the Targa 48 GT, Targa 48 OPEN and Squadron 48.
