Monaco’s Lanéva electric boat company is partnering with Riva restoration expert Bellini Nautica of Italy to replace internal combustion engines in vintage Riva boats with fully electric powertrains.

Bellini Nautica, the world expert in the restoration of Riva vintage boats, joins forces with Lanéva, a retrofit company based in Monaco specialising in designing 100 per cent electric luxury boats and certified powertrains.

This new Monegasque-Italian strategic partnership aims to become the leader in the retrofitting of classic and premium boats with electric engines.

The retrofit process consists of replacing the old internal combustion engine with a plug-and-play, certified, and fully electric powertrain. The ambition of this strategic partnership for the next five years is the sale of 150 kits, which is equivalent to a CO2 reduction of between 1000 and 1500 tonnes.

As of today, retrofit kits compatible with all vintage Riva boats are available. Among them, the Tritone, Florida, Olympic, Junior, Ariston, Rudy, Monte-Carlo Offshorer, Aquarama and their Super or Special versions.

Interested owners are invited to contact the Bellini Nautica or Lanéva teams to request more information.

The companies say their goal is ‘to become the leader in the retrofitting of classic and premium boats with electric engines, and a leader in reducing carbon emissions produced from the boating industry’.

The first electric Riva refit

Lanéva has been designing and building electric boats since 2018 and is a key participant in the e-mobility and zero emission community of Monaco. In 2022 it opened the first luxury electric aquatic service in Venice and undertook its first Riva retrofit. The result was unveiled at the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show.

The 1962 Riva Tritone originally had twin 177 HP V8 engines, replaced by Lanéva’s all-electric powertrain with 300kW of power and battery capacity of 130kWh.

Bellini Nautica, which was recently listed on the Euronext Growth Milan stock exchange, was founded in 1960 in Clusane, on the shores of Lake Iseo. It offers a complete range of services including the sale of new and used yachts, but the flagship is certainly its restoration division.
