Prometheus Sailing (formerly Sunsail UK) launches new watersports arm

Prometheus Watersports is to launch YellowV’s range of inflatable paddle boards and kayaks into the UK.

YellowV is the SUP and kayak brand developed by Vetus, a leading European supplier of marine engines and onboard systems.

Prometheus Watersports is the recently formed sister company of Prometheus Sailing, which runs the Sunsail UK charter fleet, corporate sailing base and RYA training centre. With more people taking up paddle sports or booking UK yacht charters and wanting to take SUPs and kayaks on their boats, the firm says an expansion into watersports equipment is a logical step.

The new distribution agreement means Prometheus Watersports will actively promote YellowV products throughout the UK, and directly from their base in Portsmouth Harbour.

This follows YellowV’s recent expansion of its product range.

Simon Boulding, MD of Prometheus Sailing & Watersports, says: “We have been seeking a range of durable and quality SUPs and kayaks to offer our charter and flotilla clients. The YellowV products are well made and well equipped.

“With charter bookings growing and our clients wanting to take SUPs onboard, it seems a very natural step to offer watersports equipment, alongside our accessible sailing activities. In fact, we were so impressed with this amazing brand, we’ve taken the relationship to the next level and become the UK distributor.”

The YellowV SUP range includes the Heartbeat 08, 09 and 11 iSUP boards aimed for all levels of paddler. With a sturdy build and slightly extra width for stability, all the boards are fitted with multiple grab handles for safety and a variety of D rings for attaching to boats or the shore. Each board comes with a comprehensive pack including carry bag, pump, repair kit, safety leash, and the added touch of a YellowV towel and waterproof mobile case.

The YellowV kayak range includes inflatable kayaks suitable for one, two or three people. Designed with a narrow profile for enhanced speed, the company says these kayaks are ideal for more experienced paddlers to use for touring, rough water and covering longer distances.

Nick Tuinenburg, sales product manager at Vetus, says: “Prometheus Sailing is a renowned brand in the UK staycation and sailing business. So, when we heard they were in the market for a paddle board partnership we dove right in with YellowV. From the outset, their positive drive, their vibe, their connection to watersports enthusiasts and their geographic location all connected with us.

“We are proud to announce that Prometheus Watersports is our official YellowV distributor for the UK market and we can now provide UK customers with the service they need at the quality level we’d like.”
