With nearly 450 entries so far for the 2022 Round the Island, the ISC and Race Team are looking forward to a very well-supported race on 25 June.

If you have not yet made your entry, do not forget you have until Saturday night to take advantage of the early-bird discount. Also, if your boat does not have a current IRC rating certificate, they can provide an ISCRS rating for free for most types of boat.

The race organisers say it is great to see the variety of boats entering for the 2022 race, particularly those taking part for the first time. One boat that will be celebrating being 50-years-old on race day is Serin, a Marcon Fin Keel Trident 25, crewed by keen novices. A Serin is a songbird which rarely finds its way to UK shores, but luckily this Serin has lived her life on the Solent and has helped several families find their way into sailing.

Coming from further afield is Mercurian, a Colvic UFO 27 built in 1985, which will be sailed down from Scotland with her skipper Talan Skeels-Piggins who is up for his next challenge with this race. Paralysed from the chest down in 2003, Talan is a Winter Paralympian, Double World Champion of 600cc Motorcycle Racing and a National Champion of Barebow Archery.
