Simpson Superyachts, part of yacht brokerage and service company Simpson Marine Group, has appointed James Clayton as its new sales director. Clayton will be based in Hong Kong.

Clayton has over 20 years of experience in the yacht industry. In recent years, he has worked for Italian shipyard Benetti and US brokerage firm Merle Wood & Associates, both in Europe and in the USA.

“I am delighted to join the Simpson Superyachts team and contribute to the company’s legacy of excellence,” says Clayton. “The world of yachting has always been my passion, and I am eager to bring my expertise to drive the success of Simpson Superyachts with some notable projects already completed and more underway.”

Mike Simpson, the founder and managing director of Simpson Marine Group, adds: “James’ extensive experience, excellent reputation and achievements in the yachting industry make him the perfect fit for our sales director role.

“We are confident that his leadership will propel Simpson Superyachts to new heights.”

Earlier this year, Italian luxury boatbuilder Sanlorenzo signed a ‘non-binding Memorandum of Understanding’ as it ‘explores an acquisition’ of Simpson Marine — the firm’s largest and oldest dealer network in APAC.
