Ronny Skauen, CEO of Sleipner Group, has been named growth creator of the year for 2023 at the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year awards.

Norwegian technology company Sleipner specialises in thruster and fin stabiliser systems. It also manufactures windlass, steering and propulsion equipment for the Scandinavian market.

The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year, founded by British consultancy EY, is a growth creator programme with awards in over 60 countries. Skauen will now represent Norway at the international final — the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year event — in Monaco in June 2024.

The award is a personal distinction, honouring the growth creator rather than the business. The awards stipulate the growth creator must have ownership interests and hold a leading position in a business that achieves good financial results, increases market shares, and expands into new markets.

“The winner has impressively managed to create an innovative business in a competitive industry with personal commitment, industry knowledge, and willingness to take risks,” the jury says in a statement.

“The winner has shown good adaptability while ensuring human and sustainability considerations. The business is well-positioned for further growth and value creation — both nationally and internationally.”

Accepting his award, Skauen said: “As an international company operating across Europe, our focus is on global expansion while taking great pride in manufacturing almost everything here in Norway. Value creation is close to my heart, and I’m grateful that EY recognises this.”
