Try A Boat (Dartmouth) 2011 proved to be a fantastic success. Despite the normal Bank Holiday weather a record number of people took to the water in the variety of boats available.

Without doubt the yachts proved the most popular and the 25 knot winds meant we had some very big smiles when the yachts returned from their trips out. In total nearly 250 people took to the water thanks to the great efforts of the Board of the British Marine Federation South West and South Devon Marine. Running those numbers means we were putting out nearly 25 customers every hour which is a huge success. In several cases it was the first time out on a boat or yacht for many of those who took to the water and the feedback received was very positive.

Dartmouth RNLI were also in attendance with their souvenir stall and with sales of souvenirs and the collection boxes they raised an incredible £414.17

BMF South West and South Devon Marine would like to express their thanks to everyone who helped make the event such a success; Brixham Sea School, South Devon College, Ribeye, First Class Nautical, Dartmouth Yacht Charters, Dartmouth Yacht Club, Quba Sails, Watermota, Dart RNLI, Johnson Outdoors, the Harbour Master and all the staff at DHNA.

Planning is now underway for Try A Boat 2012
