Bioaqualife, a US-based sustainable shrinkwrap specialist, has launched a biodegradable boat wrap that can also be recycled.

Bioaqualife, which develops biodegradable and recycled alternatives to single-use plastic, says the new Bioaqualife biodegradable boat and construction wrap is both recyclable and biodegradable. The firm says that the wrap can be efficiently recycled and, when disposed of, naturally breaks down into typical landfill water and methane components, avoiding the generation of microplastics.

Bioaqualife says the wrap, which is a green colour, can break down in ‘any anaerobic condition, including backyard compost setups.’

Bioaqualife’s boat and construction wrap has already been successfully trialled by American Magic — U.S. Challenger for the 37th America’s Cup — during the transportation of boats for the upcoming contest in Barcelona in 2024.

“We are excited to introduce the Bioaqualife biodegradable boat and construction wrap,” says Carsten Petersen, GM at Bioaqualife.

“Our mission is to provide innovative solutions that prioritise recyclability and biodegradability, while reducing environmental impact. With Bioaqualife, individuals and industries can make a tangible difference in building a greener future.”
