Italian tech company Videoworks has reported sustained growth as it expands into key markets and continues to hire new staff, doubling the size of its team in a relatively short period. As a result, the company has rearranged its internal structure to handle the growing order book.

The firm, which specialises in IT system integration for yachts, has delivered integrated on-board systems to Italian shipyards such as Ferretti Group, TISG, Baglietto, Tankoa, Palumbo SY and Benetti, as well as major international boatbuilders such as Royal Van Lent, Royal Huisman and Heesen Yachts in the Netherlands, Freire Shipyard in Spain, and luxury Yacht Broker Burgess.

The company says the growth of its order book goes hand in hand with the growth of the internal team, which has recently been restructured. In the Netherlands, a system engineering team has been created, while in Italy, technical and engineering staff are continuously being hired.

In 2023, the firm created a new business unit for ‘connectivity and communication solutions’, focused on providing high-speed internet to yachting clients during their time at sea.

The new company structure sees Giovanni Varone (left) taking the role of yachting sales manager with commercial responsibility for Italy, Turkey and any other markets that will be placed under the responsibility of Videoworks.

Alessio Musetti’s role is now group yachting service division and refitting manager. He will be working for a premium after-sales service and dealing with ships/shipyards regarding all their requests for upgrades.

Diego Tavaroli is now the group yachting system engineering manager and is responsible for the development of skills and resources for all the system engineers in VW Group.

Videoworks, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2023, says it has now successfully broken into the competitive Netherlands and United States markets and has reached a production capacity of 80 per cent.

“We at Videoworks appreciate the trust that the market has in us, which has led to significant growth in the order book and to doubling the size of the team,” says Stefan Nieuwenhuys, general manager of Videoworks Europe. In 2023, 18 professionals joined the firm overall.

The company installs audio/video, entertainment, IT, connectivity, lighting and comfort systems on board superyachts worldwide. Connection on all these yachts is provided through the 5G Peplink dual modem and Starlink antenna, which provide connectivity even in the middle of the ocean.

“Videoworks develops its innovation projects based on the experience of the past, understood as the desire to avoid making the same mistakes again,” says Maurizio Minossi, CEO of Videoworks. “There is always the opportunity to critically review what has been done so far and try to improve. A constant relationship with leading universities and polytechnic institutes provides us, when necessary, with a solid scientific background.”
