Navigation app savvy navvy has launched a new promoted pins feature, enabling marine businesses to reach a geo-targeted audience.

Similar to pins on Google Maps, marine businesses can now promote themselves directly in the savvy navvy app.

“We have a map-based app, so if you need to find anything from a boatyard, sail repairer, training school or chandlery, you can now do so directly in our savvy navvy app,” says David Cusworth, head of innovation and partnerships at savvy navvy.

“We’ve already seen huge interest from a variety of marine businesses globally. With our growing popularity and close to a million app downloads, this is the perfect chance for marine businesses across the world to increase their brand awareness and reach new customers.”

“Visual aids are ideal for boaters particularly when exploring new destinations,” says Melanie Symes, secretary general at TransEurope Marinas, which is using the app’s latest feature. “The promoted pins function in savvy navvy offers a great way to help sailors seek out our member marinas.”

Last year the company, founded by ex-Google software engineer Jelte Liebrand (Entrepreneur of the Year 2022), doubled both its app users and annual recurring revenue to £1.5m.

This year, savvy navvy says it is preparing to launch an enhanced version of the app, as well as working closely with marine agencies and other stakeholders on more added functionalities and data insights.

In February 2023, MIN reported that savvy navvy exceeded its £600,000 fundraising target, as part of the company’s last crowdfunding round.
