Seaplane collides with boat and crashes into Vancouver harbour
Several people were injured after a seaplane collided with a boat in Vancouver on Saturday.
According to local reports, a seaplane collided with a pleasure boat on Vancouver’s downtown Coal Harbour waterfront just before 1pm on Saturday 8 June, injuring a number of passengers on both craft.
In video footage circulating online, the powerboat and seaplane collide as the seaplane is about to take off. The seaplane stops after impact and begins sinking immediately. Boats from across the harbour responded immediately rescuing survivors.

The sunken aircraft was eventually towed back to shore by authorities.
The crash occurred in the waters near Canada Place, Vancouver police spokeswoman constable Tania Visintin said in a statement.
A report by The Canadian Press says the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Victoria received a call about the plane-boat collision, resulting in the Kitsilano Coast Guard station sending two vessels to the scene.
Marine authorities have confirmed all occupants of both the plane and the boat were brought to shore.
“A number of people were on board both the plane and boat,” Visintin said in a news release. “Several people have been treated for injuries and taken to hospital.”
Coal Harbour is the site for Vancouver’s downtown seaplane terminal served by carriers such as Harbour Air and Seair Seaplanes. Harbour Air confirmed the seaplane was one of its planes that collided with a boat upon take-off.
